Our practice is a community

We have come together as healers because we value mental health justice, multiculturalism, liberation through collective healing, and celebration of our full intersectional identities. We work to uphold social justice and anti-oppression through our continual personal and professional activism. We practice a holistic model of wellness as we work to destigmatize mental health care.

It is because of these shared values that our practice is a community.

Culturally Affirming & Empathy Driven

Cultural competence is the minimum ethical and educational requirement of any student of mental health counseling.

At Mindful Healing we work to move past the minimum standard of acceptance and tolerance of cultural differences and move toward an affirming, empathy driven approach: humanism. All of our healers identify as humanists in their therapeutic approach and put their own style on the therapeutic practices they use.

We strive to always seek additional training, education, and supervision to actively challenge our biases, privileges, and assumptions in order to serve our clients more effectively. We proudly collectively make up healers from all developmental levels of training: doctoral level, fully licensed, and resident status.

We support and celebrate one another with our own growth.

Trauma-Informed

Trauma-informed care is an overarching concept that guides an approach rooted in the care and recovery of individuals who have experienced or been exposed to stressful or dangerous events. It prioritizes emotional and physical safety, integrates the mind-body connection within treatment practices, considers environmental and social determinants, and addresses systemic factors contributing to prolonged stress or trauma responses.

The overarching goal of trauma-informed care is to help individuals live more authentic lives, expanding their window of tolerance for stressful situations and freeing them from automatic and activating responses that impede healthy relationships, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.

“I left a fulfilling career in academia to actualize a vision of co-constructing a space with mental health healers to support one another while also helping others. I started my practice as a solo healer, right before the pandemic and lockdown orders were in full effect. This transformative experience further emphasized my desire to bring together creative and skilled healers who understood the impact and meaning behind the work we do. Thus, Mindful Healing was nurtured into existence.”
