Sahaj Kohli, Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)

I applaud you for taking this step toward finding support, and I am honored to be considered as your counselor. While I believe that you are the expert of your own life, we all need a little support to work through our struggles, and it is my personal belief that humans have a shared inclination for connection, growth, and healing.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SAHAJ:

  • My passion lies at the intersection of storytelling and mental health. We all have stories we’ve been told and have internalized that impact the way we show up in our families, friendships, relationships, and workplaces. By building a collaborative and secure therapeutic relationship, I want to work with you to identify and deconstruct your narratives that contribute to your current struggles while also empowering you to reauthor your story to highlight your innate strengths, resilience, and authenticity.

I will approach our therapeutic work with a trauma-informed and integrative multicultural orientation, borrowing techniques and interventions rooted in narrative, attachment, strengths-based, and relational cultural theories. Healing does not look the same for everyone, and that’s why it’s important to me to utilize an intersectional framework to explore what the healing process will look like for you.

I specialize in working with individuals who straddle more than one culture and may feel overwhelmed by differing expectations or may struggle to authentically show up in their everyday life. I also enjoy exploring how race, culture, identity, age, gender, and sexual orientation contribute to your self-concept, friendships, family dynamics, romantic relationships, and career pursuits.

Whatever challenges you experience – from grief to racial trauma, anxiety to interpersonal issues, or depression to stress management– I strive to provide holistic healing that considers your whole self and the systems you live in. My goal is to provide a warm, respectful, open and safe environment where you feel comfortable, empowered, and secure to come as you are. I offer individual counseling, couples, and family counseling.

  • In order to optimize the development of my professional counseling identity, I am required by the state accreditation board to receive clinical supervision from a licensed professional counselor. Dr. Monica P. Band, LPC (DC & VA), CRC, NCC, ACS, CCC, is serving as my sole and primary onsite supervisor for the duration of my residency.
