LEARN MORE ABOUT TYLER:

  • The stories we tell ourselves may not reflect the life we are living or who we want to be. You may feel burdened or unfulfilled by your moods, identities, or trauma. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people from other marginalized communities, and those impacted by substance use—whether you're exploring your own relationship with substances or navigating the effects of a loved one’s use. I see therapy as a space not only for healing, but for reclaiming agency, rewriting internal narratives, and reconnecting with your authentic self.

I am a nonbinary queer therapist who brings both lived experience and clinical training into the therapy space. My identity deeply informs my practice—I know how powerful it can be to work with someone who understands the nuances of queerness, marginalization, and identity on a personal level. My work is relational and client-centered, meaning we move at your pace, guided by your goals, values, and strengths. During our time together, I will help you explore the cause of your distress utilizing thoughtful dialogue, questions, and gentle challenges aimed to enhance self-reflection and awareness. I will never tell you what your healing or recovery should look like; I am here to listen and guide folx to the answers they have within themselves.

I strive to create a space that is affirming, nonjudgmental, and grounded in trust as a foundation for the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences, explore your identity, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, intentional, and whole. I approach sessions with genuineness, curiosity, and creativity to help you explore the root of the issue. I view therapy as a deeply courageous endeavor, and I understand that starting this counseling journey may be uncomfortable at first. I welcome all questions and invite you to reach out to learn more about the counseling process.

  • In order to optimize the development of my professional counseling identity, I am required by the state accreditation board to receive clinical supervision from a licensed professional counselor.  Dr. Monica P. Band, LPC (DC & VA), CRC, NCC, ACS, CCC, is serving as my sole and primary onsite supervisor for the duration of my residency.
